When you’re in the market for a reliable truck for sale in Forsyth, IL, it pays to consider the 2023 GMC Canyon and the 2023 Toyota Tacoma. Both of these midsize trucks have a lot to offer, but there are also some differences between them. Let’s take the time to compare these trucks bumper-to-bumper to find the perfect truck for your daily needs.
The GMC Canyon is all new for the 2023 model year and welcomes a new addition to the lineup. The new AT4X off-road trim takes the Canyon to the next level of off-road performance with its 10.7 inches of ground clearance, factory 3.0-inch lift, and 33-inch mud-terrain tires. The Edition 1 package will also be offered, including features such as 17-inch beadlock capable wheels, light bars, a winch, and extra cameras. The interior of the Canyon also saw a complete refresh.
The Toyota Tacoma made the SX and Chrome packages available to its SR5 trim level for the 2023 model year. These packages primarily focus on the appearance of the truck.
The Canyon is available in five trim levels – Elevation, AT4, 4WD Denali, AT4X, and AT4X Edition 1. The Canyon base engine is powered by a 2.7-liter turbo high-output engine that produces 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. Depending on which trim level you choose there is a varied lineup of engines. When properly equipped the Canyon can tow up to 7,700 pounds.
The Tacoma base engine is a 2.7-liter 4-cylinder that produces 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. Critics found that the engine was underpowered and the automatic transmission did little to impress. The Tacoma also falls short when it comes to towing, only being able to tow up to 6,800 pounds when properly equipped.
The Canyon saw some new technology additions, like a head-up display and a new digital gauge cluster. The driver-mode selection knob gained more room with the gear shifter moving closer to the passenger side of the cab. There are also deeper cubbies for your cupholders which moves them closer to the driver and passenger. The Canyon comes standard with an 8.0-inch digital gauge cluster, and as you move up in trim levels you can get an 11.0-inch display. The Canyon prioritizes quality and comfort when it comes to its refreshed interior.
Critics found that the Tacoma’s interior is cramped with a dated infotainment system. The Tacoma comes standard with a 7.0-inch touchscreen that some critics discovered to have poor graphics. You also may find a lack of comfort in the seats.
