The 2023 GMC Terrain is powered by one engine, which is a 175-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that generates 203 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. It also comes standard with front-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive is available. When properly equipped, the Terrain can tow up to 1,500 pounds.
The GMC Terrain has plenty of space behind its rear seats to haul big items. There is a maximum of 63.3 cubic feet of space with the rear seats folded down and 29.6 cubic feet behind the rear seats. If you need more space, the front passenger seat does have the ability to fold flat. In addition, a manual liftgate is standard on the Terrain, and a hands-free liftgate is optional.
The Terrain SLE is the base model for the GMC Terrain and is equipped with several standard interior, exterior, technology, and safety and driver-assistance features.
The technology has features that include single-zone automatic climate control, an analog gauge cluster, push-button start, a 7-inch touchscreen, keyless entry, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, Wi-Fi hotspot, four USB ports, a six-speaker stereo, and a satellite radio.
Features like a rearview camera and rear-seat alert are standard for safety and driver assistance.
The interior has features like split-folding rear seats, cloth upholstery, and manually adjustable front seats, while the exterior has all-season tires, a manual liftgate, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
The SLE also comes standard with the GMC Pro Safety suite, which includes lane-keep assist, LED headlights with automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, forward automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and pedestrian detection.
There are several optional features for the SLE, such as a sunroof, heated front seats, roof rails, an 8-inch touchscreen, adaptive cruise control, navigation, a safety alert seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear parking sensors, remote start, blind-spot monitoring, and a power liftgate.

The technology adds the following features, a 120-volt household-style power outlet, an 8-inch touchscreen, ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, and remote start to its standard features.
Optional features include a seven-speaker stereo, front parking sensors, a head-up display, and a surround-view parking camera system.
The Terrain AT4 pulls many features from the previous models but adds exterior features like black accents, a skid plate, and 17-inch wheels.
The Terrain Denali includes all the same features as the SLT model, with the addition of 19-inch wheels to the exterior.
The technology features also gained navigation, an 8-inch digital gauge cluster with an analog tachometer, wireless device charging, and a seven-speaker stereo.
Safety and Driver-assistance features welcomed safety alert seat, front and rear parking sensors, a head-up display, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring.
