If you’re hunting for a durable pickup truck, you don’t have to comprise comfort for power because the GMC Sierra 1500 brings you both in abundance. A well-rounded lineup of capable engine options ensures all the work-ready strength you need, and the durable yet high-quality cabin takes the edge off your workday with cushioned seating and modern technology features.
For 2020, GMC has made their 10-speed automatic transmission, turbodiesel engine, and carbon-fiber truck bed available within more Sierra variations. The maker has also expanded its list of technology options with available trailer tow mirrors, a bed-view camera, a trailer tow camera system, and adaptive cruise control.
GMC offers the 2020 Sierra 1500 in six trims:
The base Sierra comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth®*, a rearview camera, a USB port, plus smartphone connectivity via both Android AutoTM and Apple CarPlay TM. The SLE adds to the mix with an expanded touchscreen, an extra USB port, keyless entry, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The Elevation trim features remote start, LED lighting in the truck bed, and more USB ports.
The SLT comes with performance tools like a locking rear differential and a trailer brake controller. It also features two 120-volt power outlets, a MultiPro tailgate, voice recognition, HD Radio, leather upholstery, and other amenities. The AT4 is built for rumbling off-road with skid plates, a two-speed transfer case, hill descent control, and off-road suspension. The Denali trim has navigation, wireless device charging, Bose audio, lane change alert, front and rear parking sensors, and more.

Seating capacity is determined by the cab style you pick, with seating for three in the Regular Cab and up to six in the Double and Crew Cabs. All versions promise plenty of interior space, with abundant legroom and overhead space. Two-row models come with two full LATCH car seat connections to safely accommodate younger passengers. A rear-seat reminder also comes standard in these models to alert you to anything important you may have left behind when you exited the truck.
The pickup’s durable interior can withstand the demands of the toughest jobs, and you can customize the cabin with available features like front-row bucket seats, leather upholstery, heated seating in both rows, ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
The 2020 Sierra 1500 comes in a variety of colors:
Despite its full-size body, the Sierra 1500 is reassuringly maneuverable and remains balanced around curves and corners. It shrugs off road imperfections without shaking its passengers, and it maintains a consistently smooth ride. When properly equipped to tow, the Sierra 1500 can pull up to 12,100 pounds. It can also haul 2,240 pounds.
The standard truck is powered by a 285-horsepower V6 that puts out 305 pound-feet of torque. If you opt for the SLE or Elevation trims, you can enjoy the extra energy of the 310-horsepower, 460-pound-foot turbocharged 4-cylinder. The SLE, SLT, Elevation, and Denali can also be equipped with a 277-horsepower turbodiesel that delivers 460 pound-feet of torque. A 420-horsepower, 460-pound-foot V8 is also available for the SLT, AT4, and Denali. Depending on the engine you choose, transmission is handled by either a six-, eight-, or 10-speed automatic.
For 2020, GMC has added new tech features to the Sierra 1500’s long list of options. You can now equip your truck with available tools like a bed-view camera, adaptive cruise control, trailer tow mirrors, a trailer tow camera system, and more. GMC’s brawny turbodiesel engine is now available in a broader range of models and configurations, as are the carbon-fiber truck bed and 10-speed automatic transmission. While the Elevation trim arrived in 2019 as a Double Cab exclusive, it is now available in a Crew Cab build as well.
No matter what you have to tow or haul, you can count on the GMC Sierra 1500 to get the job done like no other truck on the market.
